Sevier Mountains

This is an aerial view of south side of Rock Canyon. The folded beds of limestone are dramatic evidence of the Sevier mountain building event that began in the Jurassic Period to the west and propagated eastward into Utah by Cretaceous time. In this section you will look at structures in and around the canyon that illustrate this tectonic event.
