Florida is another modern analog of the environment that existed in Utah 330 million years ago. Shallow, warm clean seas, such as this on the Gulf Coast of Florida, are conditions that produce limestone. The light blue areas at the bottom of the picture are where carbonate sediment is made and deposited today.
