Wave-cut Video

Bonneville-terraces-salt-la.jpeg

Over the past 150,000 years, Lake Bonneville experienced many levels. When the lake would remain at a certain level for an extended period of time the repetitive wave action would carve a terrace into the shoreline as shown on Fremont Island in the photo above. Many distinct terraces can also be seen along the Wasatch Front. The short movie shows wave action carving a new terrace on the shore of Deer Creek Reservoir. It also shows several wave-cut terraces that have formed as the lake has remained at different levels. (Photo by Ken Hamblin)
