Global Glaciers

Global-glaciers.jpeg

At the time of Lake Bonneville, the earth was experiencing an ice age. Glaciers covered nearly all of Canada, Russia, and Northern Europe. Alpine glaciers were carving out valleys in the high elevations of most western states. About 12,000 years ago the glaciers begin to melt as the global climate began to warm. As a result of this glacial melt, the global sea level rose nearly 100 meters. ( Map produced by Eric H. Christiansen and Ken Hamblin)
