Reverse Fault

reversefault.gif

On the north side of the canyon, just east of the gate is another good example of a compressional feature. During the Sevier Mountain building phase, this block of Mineral Fork Tillite was forced up into the Tintic Quartzite above it.  Reverse faults developed on either side of the structure allowing it to move up. This structure is in the middle of the Rock Canyon anticline and is a brittle response to deformation.
