Extension Clay Animation

This animation is simply a slab of clay that represents the earth's crust.  It shows the effect of crustal extension and the formation of fault-block mountains, such as the Wasatch Range.  As the crust is pulled apart normal faults form allowing valleys to drop down and abrupt mountain fronts develop.  This is the situation of most of the mountains and valleys across Utah and Nevada.
