The impermeable core zone of the fault is seen near Rock Canyon. This pulverized and sheared rock has been re-cemented together by dissolved calcite moving along the fault in water. The fault forms a barrier to the movement of water through the fault. However, water moves quite easily along or parallel to the fault.
