To imagine what Utah could have looked like during this period, we need to visit places such as Vatnajokull, Iceland,  shown here. Ice-covered mountains border a shallow sea littered with floating blocks of ice.  During Utah's Precambrian past,  continental glaciers like these flowed into the sea depositing their load of till. (photo by Ken Hamblin)
