Jakobi is a Freshman in the Department of Geological Sciences! He currently plays the trombone in BYU’s marching band, and he also enjoys playing tennis in his free time.
In addition to band in high school, he participated in the Science Olympiad! One year he competed in the geological mapping event, and performed extremely well! After that, his team had him compete in other divisions like rocks and minerals, and hydrogeology. From this and other experiences, Jakobi caught the fire of geology and decided to make that his passion!
Jakobi thinks everyone should study geology to better understand the history of the earth and how it was formed. “The applications of geology are really interesting, you should check out the Geology Department!”
