Vehicle Check-In

Failure to comply with any of the following instructions could result in loss of driving privileges for the remainder of your time at BYU.
All drivers must complete Driving BYU Vans and Vehicle Training before operating any department vehicle.

Gas:

The gas tank should not go below 50%, ever. If it is nearing half empty, fill it up as soon as possible.
Fueling should happen at the BYU Refueling station located BYU gas is located 900 E 800 S, Provo, UT 84604, open Monday–Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM,
BYU Refueling Station Instructions:

• Take note of the mileage of the vehicle.
• Lift the key hatch on kiosk and insert the pro-key (attached to vehicle keys).
• Enter the mileage to the nearest mile when prompted.
• Select the minimum octane rating fuel (Regular).
• Insert nozzle and lift the vertical plastic lever on the side of the pump unit.
• Lock the handle on the nozzle.
• When fueling stops, lower the lever and return the nozzle.

If fueling up at a non-BYU gas station, keep your receipt!

Ticketing:

• If you get a ticket while driving a department vehicle, you will be entirely responsible for it.

Vehicle breakdown:

• • If the department vehicle breaks down on campus within the hours of 7am-4:30pm Mon-Fri, call 801-422-5512
  • If the driver is not close to campus, out of state, and or the auto shop is closed, call university dispatch at 801-422-2222
  • You may perform minor fixes (e.g., jump start, tire change) if confident—but not required.
  • Report any and all issues to the department.

Crash Protocol:

• Call 9-1-1
• If you are on campus and no injuries occur, call BYU police at 801-422-2222
• Tell Police what happened to the best of your abilities without speculating/guessing any details
• Regardless of whether or not vehicle is visibly damaged, take photos from every angle including the other vehicle.
• If any passengers have visible injuries, take photo.
• Exchange info with all involved in crash (Name, address, phone number, license plate, driver's license, insurance).
• Inform Supervisor immediately.
• Make a drivers incident report found through the BYU incident webpage (must be done within 24 hours of crash).
